What we think:
Embark in a truly captivating turn based strategy game where you'll be getting into a truly merciless war. With Fantasy Wars you'll need just a few minutes to get the hang of the hex turn based system and then there's hours of game that are open to you with 3 single player campaigns each following a different race and each with tons of units. Giving you a wealth of strategy with the addition of landscape and special items. Orcs, humans or Elves, which side will you choose?
What's the short and sweet of Fantasy Wars? Well it's a strategy War based in Fantasy landscape (duh). OK, seriously; it's a turn based strategy game that on the surface looks like it goes by the book, but once you get into it you'll discover a deep game that gives you an almost endless amount of strategy possibilities that'll appeal to both the strategy veteran and newbies to the genre.
As you can probably tell from the title you're going into a fantasy world where you'll have to come out victorious in a three way war between Humans, Orcs and Elves (who work with dwarves for some reason). Each of the three factions have thier own single player campaign and specialised units, each lovingly skinned and animated. And before you get to the battlefield you'll need to build up your army.
The best thing about Fantasy Wars has to be its ease of accessibility: you can jump right into the campaigns (which have over 30 missions) and just get into the game straight away and soon enough you'll find yourself positioning your army as best as it can be; using the lay of he land for some bonuses, checking the bonus items that your different units are carrying to get them all important experience points. It all flows so well that everyone will forget the 'turn based games are complicated' stereotype. But that doesn't mean it's simple. Under the easy to understand interface you'll find a game with huge tactical possibilities including ranged, siege and flying units, and when you can have up to 500 of the buggers on the screen at the same time it makes for a huge battlefield.
Graphically, Fantasy Wars is very pleasing with comic style designed units each with very colourful skins and excellent animations both in battle and when waiting to move.
All in all Fantasy Wars is a game that shouldn't be written off, it's an easy to get into turn based strategy game that gets remarkably deep further on in the game, one to download if only to see if you like it.
